Well folks, it was decided that as the Blog on the EFG website was a good way to communicate the newsletter could take a backseat for 2011 and subs to help with costs, were not required. So the EFG took off to greater heights.
Yes, the EFG blog has been a great success, watched most days by followers all over the world, with great acknowledgement. It has given people the chance to have their points of view, on shows, current information, KC announcements, discussions, everything.
Some people have asked “"Where is the newsletter?”" most confessing it was a good read in bed with a cup of tea on a Sunday morning. We are always willing to please but we’ll need a newsletter editor, volunteers anybody?
This year was 15 years of the EFG, many have been with us for the whole time and you have long memories. “How about we look again at becoming a fully fledged club?” Why not? So we are re-instating fees again because, as we'’ve been talking to numerous people over the past few months who say the same thing, as the EFG has always done what people want our 16th year might be a bit different!
When you stopped paying money, membership by consent happened and that is how the committee has always worked. Some always being part of decisions and others just now and again but it’'s worked. The officers, we’ve had them since 1996, will continue on and some committee have said they are also willing. We will request any further interested parties soon but if you feel you can help or need information, please do not hesitate in contacting me, jean_e-f-g.co.uk. 2012 could be a turning point for the EFG. We have with all your help achieved a great deal so let’s see what the Kennel Club will do with us!
The DNA marker has been the greatest reward and will no doubt be a boost for the breed. If you wish to have your dog tested, we can always advise. The Charitable Trust and our own matching donations “(THANK YOU” again) left some funding, with the Charitable Trust approval, stays with the EFG for any health projects. Bio-banking has been suggested for the future of Glens and we’re looking into it, ‘any other concerns?’
Recently on the blog we all ended up talking about what we used to do and it was suggested we ought to try something again. The Christmas get together at a dog show had 22 Glen people attend & many others come over and said how much we had been missed. They were pleased to see us and we all agreed a brilliant day. Anywhere fancied for a 2012 meet?
